Entrofy Systems

Fair division you can compute.

Entrofy builds allocation software for AI compute. It is based on the Boltzmann distribution, the rule that governs how energy is shared in physical systems. One parameter sets the balance between efficiency and fairness, and a hard cap guarantees that no single user can take over the system.

Eight agents with different contribution scores (numbers under the bars) share one resource. Each share is proportional to exp(β·score). Lower β flattens the split toward equality; higher β tilts it toward efficiency. Illustrative only; not a product simulation.

Technology

Based on physics

In physical systems, energy is shared among particles by the Boltzmann distribution. It is the most probable arrangement and, in a precise sense, the fairest one. Entrofy uses the same rule to share AI resources among users and jobs.

One parameter, β

Each user's share depends on exp(β × contribution). Raising β sends more resources to the largest contributors. Lowering β spreads them more evenly. Efficiency and fairness become two settings of the same parameter, which the system can read and adjust automatically.

Built-in limits on concentration

The system monitors how concentrated the allocation has become and adjusts β to keep it at the target level. A hard cap guarantees that no single user exceeds a fixed share. When demand spikes, the allocation stays stable.

Where it applies

GPU time, tokens, and bandwidth shared among many users or tenants, in GPU scheduling, federated learning, and distributed AI systems.
